Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
