Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Locals

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
