Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region, Warn Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after taking the money, disappears without a trace.
