Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Targeting Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or titles that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
