Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, disappears and is no longer visible.
