Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or to magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have money, disappears and is no longer visible.
