Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The Carabinieri impersonators are contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions via phone, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, disappear without a trace.
