Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, disappear once their intent is confirmed.
