Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance police, police, fire brigade, or local Municipality officials.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

has obtained money, and then disappears.
