Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
