Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve become the target of someone who, after getting the money, vanishes.
