Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the authorities.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
