Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
