Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance police, ordinary police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve fallen prey to someone who,

having the money, disappears without a trace.
