Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ publications.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

would request money and then disappear.
