Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Targeting Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
