Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Commit Fraud in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
