Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Fraudulently Sell Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal officers.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer make themselves visible.
