Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

So be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
