Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
