Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they are after money, will no longer make their appearance.
