Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, tend to disappear without a trace.
