Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

had money, but then disappears.
