Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not real military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money, and then disappears.
