Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the arm.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, if they had money, no longer shows themselves.
