Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
