Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has obtained money, and then disappears.
