They masquerade as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
