Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines published by the force.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance branch, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or others that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

would have money, no longer shows up.
