Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
