Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, exercise caution and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
