Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate the Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they have money, will not show up again.
