Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer shows up.
