Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the armed forces, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer visible.
