Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
