Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have become the target of those who,

after acquiring the money, disappear and are no longer seen.
