Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having the amount of money, disappears without a trace.
