Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal officers.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, do not show themselves again.
