Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,
