Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They are impersonating Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and are no longer visible.
