Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, exercise caution and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
