Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when telephoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police departments.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have money, disappear and cease contact.
