Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

whose motives involve money, disappear without a trace.
