Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to be from the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not reappear.
