Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hospitality and Business

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, no longer appear.
