Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

seeking money, no longer shows themselves.
