Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the arm.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by those who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear or make themselves unreachable.
