Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

Recognizing Scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have no connection with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they are seeking money, will cease contact altogether.
