Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, no longer shows themselves.
