Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses in Garda

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear without a trace.
